The Nom’s Food Philosophy:

  • Healthy + Flavorful Foods: Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring! The Nom focuses on using whole foods to create custom menu’s that are full of a variety of different flavors to keep the taste buds singing. I cook with healthy oils such as unrefined olive oil, unrefined coconut oil, organic sesame oil & avocado oil. Only natural sweeteners are used, such as local raw honey, organic maple syrup & coconut sugar. All food is free of additives & preservatives.

  • Everyone Deserves Quality Food + Nutrition Education: I believe that health truly starts with what and how you eat. Unfortunately, the way society is structured doesn’t make it easy or accessible for everyone to receive the same quality of food security or food literacy. The Nom continues to offer scholarships and sliding scale options for low-income and marginalized individuals.

  • Create Meaningful Connection to Food + Each Other: Health and happiness goes beyond just what we eat. The Nom helps to connect clients to where their food comes from and how they can consume food to feel more connected to their bodies and who they dine with.

  • Support Local: The Nom believes in eating local for optimal health and contributing to the local economy. That's why ingredients are sourced from local farmers, fishmongers, food producers and even my own backyard garden to highlight the abundance of beautiful food the Island has to offer.

  • Give Back: I love giving back to the community by volunteering and partnering with local organizations that are aligned with The Nom’s food philosophy. Please get in touch if you have an opportunity that you think I may be a good fit for!

  • Love Mama Earth: I strive to be as low-waste and plastic-free as possible by offering all meals delivered in reusable glass containers. I also continue to work towards reducing food waste by getting creative in using as much of the plant/animal as I can in dishes.

Meet Chef Kaitlynn

Hi there! I'm Kaitlynn, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Certified Holistic Chef and Yoga Teacher. I've always felt a deep connection to food (I was the kid who read every ingredient on food labels) and have learned to support myself through eating a balanced diet that's right for me. After discovering I had developed a long list of food allergies and intolerances, I had to get creative in the kitchen. What was a challenge at first has gifted me the skills to be adaptable and resourceful when helping other’s navigate their relationship with food. I truly believe that everyone deserves to be supported by food that is nutritious AND “nom” worthy, no matter their situation.
